Richland Bombers
Welcome to the Class of 1965's 70th Birthday Page

Fellow Classmates, Honorary Members. Friends and Guests of the
Columbia High School Class of 1965

OK Kiddies – as our infamous US Government teacher Mr. (Coach) Art Dawald would say at the start of each class period.

During our tremendously successful 50 Year Class Reunion held in August, 2015, most everyone seemed to express interest in getting together again sooner than waiting another 5 years for a class reunion. So, this is your invitation to join us in celebrating our milestone 70th birthday as a group event - although we won’t be able to include wading in the pool at Howard Amon/Riverside Park where many of our birthday parties were held during our youth!!

This party event for celebration of our 70th birthdays during 2016/2017 will be held on September 15-16, 2017 (Friday/Saturday) at various locations including the host hotel Columbia Point Marriott Courtyard in Richland, WA (509) 942-9400. We do have a block of rooms on hold and have received a “special senior citizen rate” for our age group of $119 sunset view and $139 river view. Other lodging options in Richland are available, as well – remember to request the senior rate! These include:

Hampton Inn - (509) 943-4400
Holiday Inn Express - (509) 737-8000
Homestead Suites by Hilton - (509) 371-1550
Marriott Towne Place Suites - (509) 943-9800
Shilo Inn and Suites - (509) 946-4661
M Hotel & Conference Center - (509) 946-4121

The preliminary agenda for our weekend events will include:

~ FRIDAY NIGHT social – Dupus Boomers Restaurant (6pm – located at the corner of Swift and George Washington Way in Richland directly across the street from Richland City Hall, as well as the Richland Fire Station in case we are in need of any EMT services!! This business is owned by our fellow ’65 classmate Greg Markel. Meet and greet fellow classmates and exchange Happy Birthday wishes. No host cocktail bar with alcohol/beer/wine; food to order off the menu at your own expense. Light appetizers will be provided. We will have the entire second floor and patio deck of the restaurant reserved for our group. There is elevator access for ADA requirements. Very limited parking so please park in the large lot north of the Federal Building and walk from there.

~ SATURDAY MORNING – (9am) Wash down your morning meds with Spudnuts from the Spudnut shop – coffee – juice – at the Paul Beardsley Gazebo Area of Jefferson Park, across the street from the Uptown Shopping area on GWWay. This gazebo is named for the father of our fellow classmate Nancy BEARDSLEY Lucke – Paul was a community leader in the early days of the City of Richland!

~ LATER SATURDAY MORNING (10:30am to 2pm) – I have reserved a very limited number of seats on the “Pre-Manhattan Project” bus tour of the White Bluffs/Hanford/Richland town ships located ~ 25 miles north of current Richland. This is a first time offering of a brand new bus tour of this historical area along the Columbia River prior to the Hanford project buildup and does not include the B-Reactor National Park tour that was offered during our 50 year class reunion. Free!!

~ SATURDAY EVENING Dinner – (social at 6pm – dinner at 7pm) - Columbia Point Marriott Courtyard hotel - “Sit Down” table service – choice of beef, chicken, alder plank grilled salmon, or vegetarian, with chosen starch, salad, beverage, and dessert. Visiting - Birthday cake and ice cream - Music from the '50s and '60s - get up and dance if you dare!!

Costs for this memorable weekend are as follows:

$50 per person for entire weekend – Friday and Saturday

We would appreciate hearing back from you as soon as possible (ASAP)!!!

The class of 1965 web page can be accessed by clicking the link to the left or by going to http://richlandbombers.com/ and selecting 1965 from all of the years listed. Information regarding the 70th birthday party will be posted on this web page. This web site will also include a “missing list” of our fellow classmates whom we have lost contact with through the many years and do not have any residence or e-mail address information for them. If you have any information regarding the location of any of these people, or address information for any other classmates you keep in touch with, please contact me (Gregor Hanson).

. Also - There is a Facebook page which can be viewed at Richland Bombers Class of 1965, so please search for that.

We will try to keep a current listing of “who is coming” to the birthday party on the ’65 web site and Facebook pages. In addition, there is a web site for the “All Bomber Alumni Links” and the Richland Bombers Alumni Sandstorm with loads of information on Richland Bombers “stuff” which can be accessed at the same web site address http://richlandbombers.com
