VIRGINIA THERESA "GINNY" O'BRYEN EDWARDS ~ Class of 1969
March 20, 1951 - October 31, 2020

Ginny O'Bryen

Virginia Theresa O'Bryen was born to Cyril Florian and Barbara Theresa O'Bryen on March 20, 1951 in Grand Rapids, MI. She died in Spokane at the age of 69 on October 31, 2020.

She had six sisters: Mary Margaret, Collette, Barbara, Patricia, Phyllis and Catherine.

Ginny married Terry Edwards in 1979. To this union two children were born. The marriage ended in divorce on March 31, 1994.

She also had one son and one daughter with Daniel Paul Cleppe.

Her mother passed away on October 22, 1967. Her father passed away on May 27, 1994. Her sister, Catherine, passed away April 3, 2019.

Written by Ginny for the 50-year Class Reunion:

"I am happily divorced. Presently I'm still in Spokane but am preparing to move back home. Three of my four kids live there, and 13 of my 14 grandchildren. It's time to come home, although I still love Spokane. My kids are ready to hogtie me. LOL

I guess we're all battling our years. I wouldn't trade any of them, because the gifts far exceed the trials.

I have been privileged to be part of an organization called "Transitions". We published two books on poetry, prose and art from our women's community which were very well received. I spent many years volunteering and speaking as a representative in many different, but interesting and fulfilling areas concerning women's issues and loved it.

I also began to be asked to speak at other venues as a result of my involvement with them, which led to a co-authored book with several professors from WSU. It is one of the highlights of my life. I's like to think I have left Spokane a better place as a result.

My youngest daughter lives here and works as a financial counselor for a medical group and is currently working towards her Master's in Health Systems Leadership. It's hard to leave my 'baby' who definitely isn't a baby anymore. I think we all know how that is.

Recently, one of the seven O'Bryen sisters passed away, so we are now six. My family is still humongous and growing. I'm probably related to everyone in the Tri-Cities, one way or another. Kind of like the Six degrees of Kevin Bacon. Ha, ha, ha."
